Never let it be said that I’m an ‘I told you so merchant’…but…

…I Told You So!

There I said it, and I (this was no exclusive, everyone said it) said at the time that it couldn’t work and indeed predicted that neither Keegan nor Ashley would be in their roles through this season. As Keegan contemplates his retirement plan I can’t help thinking that his boss is looking for his own convenient exit.

It very nearly happened before Keegan’s inevitable explosion. The Abu Dhabi group who have made Manchester City the richest club in the world were looking at three alternatives. Their first choice, Arsenal, was deemed too complicated because of the number of individuals they’d need to buy out. Newcastle were one of those three but it would appear that whatever report came back, the words ‘toxic’ and ‘not even with someone else’s money’ were almost certainly writ large.

Newcastle will be owned by someone else soon, maybe Dr Taksin will eventually free his money up and come to the Toon’s rescue…and you thought it couldn’t get any worse!

While we’ve highlighted the City takeover, it’s worth a quick mention of Sky Sports News last Tuesday night. Such was the level of unbelievable drama, they practically melted, a station whose hype knows no bounds, very nearly over-hyped itself! As amused as I was by City pinching Robhino from Chelsea, the highlight was the pompous nobody Jim White getting a text from Joey Barton!

Pity it didn’t mention that King Kev was off!
