...or should that be ‘After the Flood’, as the big kick off was scheduled for last weekend, only to be washed away, breaking the trembling hearts of a nation of budding Kakas (especially the 8 year olds set to play in a ‘proper League’ for the first time)
Preparations, as ever at this time of year, have not been smooth. All over the country, volunteer managers will have been camped in regional FA offices, Wimbledon ticket queue style, waiting to see if their charges’ precious registration cards have been processed on time. ‘No card no play’ is the FA mantra.
As yet, there are no cards at all for our u11 girls. Well according to the FA they exist...only they’re yet to find their way to the club...lost in some FA netherworld then...so looks like a friendly fixture for us this weekend. Maybe that’s as well, given that our supplier’s latest shipment of size 4 training balls has been impounded at customs...
After five years’ hard slog working their way through the divisions, my u15 boys (boys? more like 6’2” hulks...my it’s intimidating these days when they all converge on you for the team talk) take their bow in the county’s top flight tomorrow. Apparently most of the oppo are 6’4”...
We start the u5s training group next month...
