Thank god for Fu Bing

So that was the International break.

A fortnight which saw the following: A draw with Barnsley brought to an end four successive defeats on the pitch; a mini car park protest (is that like something out of The Italian Job?) fails to escalate; the on-loan stand-in keeper’s stand-in breaks his fingers; the 31-year-old coughing keeper banned for drug taking (ephe-drine on me mate) signs a new contract; City council gives the proverbial ‘green light’ to plans to extend the main South Stand (built in ’75 in preparation for Europe (LOL) to increase capacity to 44,000; chairman reacts angrily to tabloid reports that our wage bill will be as low as £6m next season; the club agrees to share Bramall Lane with the city’s rugby league club; rumours abound that Alan Shearer is lined up as the club’s new manager; former Blades hero Bobby Davison resigns as boss of Blades-owned Ferencvaros with Craig Short taking over temporary reins and Chengdu Blades finish the Chinese Super League in 7th place after keeper Fu Bing pulls of two cracking saves in beating former champions Shandong.

And all this shortly after a reserve team striker goes down for nearly three years for causing death by reckless driving; the chairman appeals to fans via the radio to not make a drama out of a crisis . . .or a crisis out of a drama; Blades sign free agent Henri Camara and winger David Cotterill can play for Wales but can’t come off the bench for his club despite a well dramatised injury list.

Just another few weeks supporting the Blades.
